Which Disney Protagonist is the most awesome?

I think I've included every options for which people are going to vote. If I missed anyone, I guess you'll have to cast your vote in a comment instead. Some more obscure movies are kind of missing.

My first reaction was Alice, since, you know, any girl with the following philosophy is awesome by nature.

"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"

Then I realized I've never actually seen Disney's take on that marvelous little lady (I've only ever read the book) so I figured that didn't count. So, the obvious answer is of course Buzz Lightyear.

It's all very simple, really.
He's got a beard (Yes,I know, it's a tiny little useless beard, but it's a beard nevertheless.)
He's manly as all hell (Which is impressive, being four inches tall and made out of plastic.)
He's from outer space.
He's got a superarmorspacesuit.
He's got more buttons on his suit than any other Disney character ever.
He's got a Fucking Laser.
AND:
He Can Fucking Fly.

I rest my case.

Buzz Lightyear is *not* manly, he's passed the border where manliness becomes so manly that is more unmanly than unmanly men are. He's only hardly a protagonist, he's probably a prime example of all seven sins with pride right at the top, I seriously doubt he has most buttons, and flying isn't that much of a feat in a Disney movie.

Now, then, that i'm finished, excuse my torching of him, and take no offence.

My vote's fer fookin' Cappin Jack Sparrow, meself.

'E's all "Yarr yarr, swash swash, buckle buckle!" Don't get bloody better than that, mateys!

So piss on yer bleedin' Buzz Light-fookin'-year!

"To infinity, and beyond!" -The greatest Disney Protagonist ever.

Yeonni sa...

Hm, yeah, Jack Sparrow should be on that list.

I was going to limit myself to cartoon characters, though. I mean, all the good villains have been cartoons, would be unfair to have the protagonists' competition extend any further.

Yeonni sa...

Ah, okay. Nevermind Sparrow then. I'm actually surprised at how hard this was. Proves I'm a sucker for bad guys, and Disney tends to make protagonists good =P.

But when it comes to character design, where Disney is really putting their creative energy is in the antagonists :) Jafar ftw!

Among protagonists, Simba would be the premier. He beats Buzz Lightyear on the merit of actually being a protagonist. ;)

Hah! David agrees with me!

Simba's completely awesome - he's like, a king and shit, a pimp with the lion ladies, and thanks to his upbringing by Timon & Pumbaa, he has a smooth, laidback side as well. Hakuna Matata, bitches.

Mr. Over-blown-ego Lightyear ain't got shite on king (KING!) Simba.

Yeonni sa...

Yay! Hail Simba! *bows*

Hmm... the Lion King has both the best protagonist and antagonist... obviously! One cannot be without the other. ^^

I lay down my vote simply because all Disney protagonists are wusses. The sidekicks tend to be okay. Even the princesses are cooler. The antagonists, however, are awesome.

Who the hell voted for Mary Sue Pocahontas?

Sara sa...

Well not me. She's talking to a tree, and seeing colors in the wind. Obviously she's on something!

Rik sa...

Looks like Simba won! All hail the Lion King!
